How The 3D Technology Works
Each wavelength has its own advantages targeting different tissue depths within the hair follicle thus increasing treatment efficiency. The Soprano Titanium and Platinum feature Super Hair Removal (SHR) technology. This is an In-Motion™ technology that gradually accumulates the required total energy with a low fluence and high repletion rate. This ensures better coverage of the treatment area, reduces adverse events associated with traditional hair removal, and reduces patient discomfort. By moving the applicator repeatedly over the treatment area, like a paintbrush, SHR gradually heats the dermis to a temperature that damages the hair follicles whilst not damaging the surrounding tissue for permanent hair reduction.
Alexandrite 755nm – Good at targeting fine, lighter hair. Targets the bulge (the most superficial target) of the hair follicle and has the highest absorption in melanin of the three wavelengths.
Diode 810nm - Good at targeting both coarse and fine hair. Targets the bulge and bulb of the hair follicle.
Nd:YAG 1064nm – Good at targeting coarse, deep hair. Targets the bulb (the deepest target) of the hair follicle and the dermal papilla which provides the blood supply to the follicle.
Hair Removal, Remastered. Now, Even Faster.
To effectively reduce hair growth, the hair stem cells need to be permanently impaired
Hair stem cells are in three main places: the hair matrix at the side of the shaft, the bulge, and the papilla
The aim of laser hair reduction is cell necrosis (the premature death of cells) of these stem cells
To increase the effectiveness of laser hair reduction, the blood supply to the hair from the dermal papilla is also targeted and inhibited
When the laser light contacts the melanin, the light energy transforms into heat energy. This heat causes stem cell necrosis and damages the dermal papilla

How to remove a tattoo successfully with medical lasers
Trying to figure out how to remove a tattoo? Unwanted dark and multi-colored tattoos can be safely and effectively eliminated with Alma’s variety of tattoo removal treatments. These are clinically proven laser treatments which use a various laser wavelengths that target different ink colors. High-intensity light beams create a photo acoustic shock wave that breaks up the ink particles in the tattoo. The result after a number of sessions reveals clear, ink-free skin with minimal risk of scarring or hypo-pigmentation.
Successful multi-color tattoo removal requires a high powered laser that can deliver enough energy within the absorption spectrum of a wide range of colors. The high power Q-Switched Nd:YAG 1064nm laser is ideal for treating darker ink colors (black, blue and green), while the 532nm wavelength is effective for brighter ink colors (red, orange and yellow). The treatment mechanically breaks down ink particles without causing thermal damage. In time, the body’s lymphatic system disposes of the ink fragments. This natural healing process causes the tattoo to fade with minimal risk of scarring or discoloration.
What Experts Are Saying
“Treating patients with acne vulgaris using the unique Er:Glass 1540 laser supported with vacuum and cooling, proved to be effective - showing significant improvement with no side effects.”
— PROF. MOSHE LAPIDOTH, RABIN MEDICAL CENTER, ISRAEL
“Based on my histology analysis, it is evident that the epidermis is in large proportions intact but there is clearly visible damage in the sun damaged mid-upper dermis associated with collagen disruption and disintegration. The ClearLift Q-Switched fractional laser is a very promising modality that enables non-ablative collagen injury and remodeling underneath a mostly intact epidermis.”
— UWE PAASCH, M.D., PH.D. UNIVERSITY OF LEIPZIG, GERMANY
Frequently Asked Questions
-
No it is not painful. The ClearLift laser creates tiny heat points in the dermis and does not cause damage to the outer layer of the epidermis.
-
Usually there is no downtime following the ClearLift laser treatment and it is considered a true “lunchtime procedure”.
-
The NIR face applicator using the near infra-red light is a great skin tightening treatment using mineral oil giving an amazing lift or “Cinderella effect” which is great before an evening event.
-
Yes, combined treatments are highly recommended. It consists of 2 options: various technologies combinations available on the Harmony system or as well as combining laser treatments with fillers such as hyaluronic acid.
-
This varies, on average 4-6 sessions and then maintenance as necessary.
-
There may be some improvement from the first session, but after 3-4 sessions there should be noticeable improvement.
-
Yes, our laser treats superficial vascular lesions such as varicose veins, spider veins etc. anywhere on the body and face.
-
That depends on the size, age and location of the tattoo. Some large tattoos are so big they can’t be covered in one session, thus requiring more appointments. Also, older tattoos are harder to remove as over time the pigment goes deeper within the skin. Keep in mind intervals of 6-8 weeks between sessions are mandatory therefor an 8 session process can take a little bit over a year.
-
Both the Dye-VL and the Dye-SR applicators are effective for treating superficial pigmented and vascular lesions of the sun-damaged areas. These can be used in the unique “in-motion” technique and thus keep the treatment safe and comfortable for the patient.
-
The Harmony XL Pro offers SHR in-motion technology which is virtually painless and effective.
-
Number of sessions for hair removal with AFT by Harmony XL PRO varies, on average 6-10 sessions depended on the patient’s skin color, hair type and the area being treated. Treatment time can range from a few seconds for a small area such as above the upper lip, to 8 minutes for the entire back.
Everyone responds differently to laser hair reduction. The results obtained by one client may not be obtainable by another. Everyone’s hair grows at different rates and responds differently to treatment.
-
Test patch is performed in the treatment area but in an inconspicuous area.
Test patch is performed using the recommended parameters for each mode.
Wait at least 30 minutes for Skin Types I-III, and 24 hours for skin types IV-VI, to assess the skin reaction.
Each new modality used requires a new test patch.
If there are changes to the medical history, a new test patch is performed again.
Test patching may be a requirement of your insurance – ensure you read your Product Disclosure Statement (PDS)
-
The Medical History Form is important to screen for contraindications which might exclude a patient from receiving treatment for safety reasons
Photosensitising medications are just one of the many contraindications associated with laser treatments. A list of photosensitising medications can be found here:
Photosensitising Medications
Confirm the Medical History Form is up to date at each visit, and that there have not been any changes
Completing a Medical History Form may be a requirement of your insurance – ensure you read your Product Disclosure Statement (PDS)
-
The Informed Consent Form is important to ensure the client understands all the risks associated with the treatment
Completing an Informed Consent Form may be a requirement of your insurance – ensure you read your Product Disclosure Statement (PDS)

Permanent hair reduction will require a series of treatments (10 – 12+) and may vary according to:
Skin type and hair density/colour/thickness
Physiological condition – genetics, age, gender, hormonal background, general health
Treatment adherence, and pre- and post-treatment instruction adherence can impact the treatment effectiveness
There may be discomfort, transient erythema (redness), oedema (swelling), and broken capillaries
There is a risk of adverse events in every treatment – please ensure the client understands the Informed Consent Form
Hormonal changes can cause regrowth even in areas where the hair follicles were successfully treated by the laser. This might include, but is not limited to, hormonal conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), pregnancy, breastfeeding, puberty, menopause, starting, changing, or stopping the oral contraceptive pill, and hormone therapy.
Maintenance treatments may be required after the initial 10 – 12+ sessions
No hair removal treatment can remove 100% of the hair permanently. This is a laser hair reduction treatment.
-
Most users of traditional laser hair removal are familiar with and experience the photo-waxing effect which causes vaporization of the hair
It requires the patient to shave 48 hours before the treatment and have short hair present during the session. It gives the illusion that the hair has shredded however it has just snapped (vaporized), and the bulb of the hair still must move through the three hair growth cycles before it can detach
It can alter the efficacy of the treatment, as the heat does not reach deep enough into the follicle. Most of the energy is wasted on the superficial hair and not the desired depth for permanent hair removal
Clients will not experience this shedding process with Soprano hair reduction, instead they will notice a reduction in hair that grows back
The returning growth will be patchy until all treatments are complete – remember the hair must be in the anagen phase to be successfully targeted and only approximately 30% of hair is in the anagen phase at any one treatment
-
Proper pre- and post-care will directly influence the effectiveness and safety of the treatment.
Correct pre- and post-care is imperative and must be discussed with the client.
A comprehensive guide to pre- and post-care can be found in our clinic.
-
Treatment adherence is important to ensure treatment effectiveness.
Treatment adherence is imperative and must be discussed with the client
Number of Treatments: 10 – 12
Treatment Intervals: Face: 4 – 8 weeks | Body: 6 – 8 weeks
-
Potential risks should be documented in the Informed Consent Form and verbally discussed with the client to ensure comprehension.
Complications are rare but possible. Common side effects include temporary redness (erythema) and a mild "sunburn" like effect that may last a few hours to a couple of days.
Other potential side effects include but are not limited to, crusting, irritation, itching, pain, burns, blistering, scabbing, swelling (oedema), broken capillaries, bronzing, and acne or herpetic breakouts. There also is a risk of resulting unsatisfactory appearance and failure to achieve the desired result.
In approximately 1% of patients, a paradoxal effect can occur. This is where dormant hair follicles are stimulated by the laser light resulting in increased growth of hair.
Laser hair removal cannot be done over tattoos and raised lesions. Tattoos and raised lesions must be covered with white opaque material
What clients are saying about our Laser…
